UPMC Hamot Women's Hospital
Founded by the Hamot Hospital Association, Hamot Hospital opened its doors in 1881 with the capacity for 25 patients.
Expanding tremendously over the next decade, Hamot Hospital eventually partnered with UPMC of Pittsburgh in 2011 and is currently a 433-bed tertiary care facility, regional referral hub and Level II Trauma Center.
In 2011 UPMC Hamot opened the UPMC Hamot Women’s Hospital bringing together a highly skilled team of health experts offering a comprehensive range of specialties, from obstetrics, neonatology, and gynecology to urogynecology, gynecologic-oncology, infertility, plastic surgery, and breast health. This brand new hospital required both interior and exterior signage.
Howard Industries’ PRIME Sign Program became the exclusive provider of all interior wayfinding, identification, ADA, regulatory and donor signage for the entire new 5 floor facility, in addition to providing exterior identification and wayfinding signage. The scope involved site survey, placement recommendations, design, fabrication and installation services; including on- going support. Signage content consisted of the modular HID Sign System, as well as custom interior signage designs. The initial project included over 850 signs and was completed within less than six 6 weeks.
