Mercyhurst University
Mercyhurst University is a fully accredited, four-year, Catholic liberal arts institution founded in 1926 by the Sisters of Mercy, and home to more than 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
Maintaining four Pennsylvania campus locations (Erie (main), North East, Corry, and Girard), Mercyhurst has utilized Howard Industries PRIME Sign Program for many years, for both their interior and exterior signage needs.
In 2012, Mercyhurst College officially became Mercyhurst University launching a complete rebranding campaign, which involved redesigning both the University’s interior and exterior signage. The new signage designs were Gothic in nature, having a dramatically contrasting black and silver color scheme and structural attributes resembling those of medieval cathedral architecture.
Howard Industries PRIME Sign Program was able to adapt some of their existing aluminum architectural signage extrusions to suit the need of the rebranded Mercyhurst signs. Howard’s HED-300 and HED-400 extruded sign cabinet frames were used to fabricate both the directional and identification signage systems. For the university’s redesigned interior signs, the HID Interior Signage System was a perfect fit with its standard anodized silver aluminum finish and easily changeable black printed paper inserts. Utilizing some of Howard Industries PRIME Sign Program’s standard aluminum extrusions offers both economically and aesthetically pleasing results for clients.
